Gave in. KH1 inbound.

After months of resisting the urge. Of navigating to their site and then quickly closing the tab. Of thinking about it when I should have been thinking about other things.

I gave in and ordered one.

I’ve read too many blogs. Watched too many YT videos.

I knew it would happen eventually, I just thought I had a bit more willpower than this.

Now begins the 15-21 business day wait.

In the meanwhile, here is a sunrise over Lake Superior in Duluth, MN last month.

Adam, same here. Ordered, cancelled, reordered. I finally got it a couple months ago. It’s a good rig for lightweight, “shoot-and-scoot” type activations. With a Packtenna Random Wire it’s an awesome radio. The whip is a compromise but it gets the job done. A lot of 33Ns and 44Ns but it works. I recommend the Tufteln accessories.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. That is exactly what I’m after. Something to have with me when I travel or am out and about, and don’t want to hassle with a mast or a throw line.

Are you using the Elecraft paddle or something else?

N7KOM has a great video comparing options and am always curious about people’s experiences.

      Thanks!

I think the redesigned Elecraft paddle is good, but mushy and likely prone to fail at some point. On Sunday I tried the N6ARA Tiny Paddle with the Tufteln adapter for it. 1000% better. That’ll be what I use going forward. It’s not quite a capacitive touch paddle, but it’s close.
